Summer Events For Sewing Enthusiasts
Summer is almost upon us and, for anyone interested in sewing, it means a lot of different events you can attend. No matter if you’re just starting out or have a few years of sewing experience under your belt, it’s always a good idea to visit events such as these, so that you can learn more about the craft, participate in contests and attend festivals that showcase beautiful fabrics and patterns and amazing techniques. 3rd – 4th June: Springfields Quilt Show
Spalding, Lincolnshire, is the chosen location for this event, which intends to showcase the fantastic work displayed through quilts and patchwork. You’ll be able to find a wide range of quilting supplier stands and have contact with professionals who are on hand to show you a few tricks, so this show is spot on for quilting enthusiasts. You should book your ticket as soon as you can, as this is a first come, first served situation.
17th – 19th June: National Quilt Championships
If a quilting contest is something that interests you, you’ll be able to attend one of the best championships in the craft. With stunning displays from around the world, as well as well-built and managed facilities, you’ll certainly be able to see some of the best quilting and patchwork out there in this event in Esher. You can also attend workshops, so don’t forget to book them as soon as possible.
1st – 3rd July: The Stitching Sewing & Hobbycrafts Show
NEC, Birmingham, will be the host for this fantastic show, which includes a wide variety of activities, from ‘learn to sew’ workshops and demonstrations to jewellery making and beading – so you won’t lack for things to do or learn at this event. Due to the vastness of this show, you’ll also be able to attend papercrafts and cardmaking workshops, take a look at craft guilds and federations, and enjoy the life sized knitted garden that has been a popular attraction for 10 years now.
11th – 14th August: The Festival of Quilts
In this leading quilting show in Europe, also happening in NEC, Birmingham, you’ll see more than one thousand beautiful quilts and have the opportunity to stock up on some of the best supplies in the market from more than 300 exhibitors. If you’re interested in talks and workshops, the festival has over 180 you can choose from, and you’ll also be able to enter a competition and participate in social events organised by the festival.
